Hugo Chavez died recently on March 5, 2013, and the death of the outspoken Venezuelan leader has left the country divided. While elections for a new ruler were held 30 days after his death, the death of the longtime leader has affected other counties of the world as well.

Some countries honored Chavez after his death by holding national days of mourning, including Cuba and Ecuador. Countries who mostly opposed the leader, such as the United States, offered a different take on his passing. Most feel that the leader was a tyrant and are glad that the Venezuelan people are free from his rule.

Chavez’s death has far-reaching implications for the United States, as well as for the rest of the world. His second in command had made statements that blamed the fallen leader’s health on his enemies, and has made comments strongly opposing the United States in the recent past.

The Venezuelan leader may have passed, but his anti-American views have not escaped from the country of his rule. His vast Socialist policies are deep-rooted in the area, and the newly elected leader will have to work hard with other world leaders to ease some of the world tension.

Former professional basketball player Dennis Rodman recently visited North Korea in late February. Rodman accompanied the Harlem Globetrotters to film a television documentary in the hermit nation.

Besides officially-backed visits, travel to North Korea for U.S. citizens is generally considered unwise. However, private travel to North Korea does not require prior clearance before visiting. Since the end of the Korean War and the beginning of the alliance with South Korea, the United States considers North Korea a hostile nation.

North Korea launched two missiles and initiated a nuclear test a little over a year since Kim Jong-Un took over as leader.

While there, Rodman built a positive relationship with Kim. Rodman told a Chinese news agency that Kim “is an awesome kid, very honest and loves his wife so much.”

Befriending Kim might be a reason to brand Rodman as a traitor. Secretary of State John Kerry told NBC that Rodman is a great diplomat of sports and “that’s where we’ll leave it.” Thus, Rodman’s friendly session with Kim goes against the political state between North Korea and the U.S.

Based on the political climate regarding North Korea, Dennis Rodman can be seen as a traitor. However, calling Rodman a traitor is taking it too far.

School administrators can lead their institutions in bullying prevention efforts and create a more positive and safe learning environment for students.

Changing the Climate

To reduce bullying, change the school’s climate and introduce social norms that define bullying as “uncool” and helping students as “cool.” This climate change must occur not just with the students, but with the whole school environment, including teachers, cafeteria workers, nurses, bus drivers and others.

Assess Bullying

Most administrators are surprised when they learn how much bullying their students experience.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed < a href=’http://tolerantpeople.com/2013/03/04/think-about-this-can-we-really-stop-bullying/’>here. Conduct a student survey to uncover the type, frequency and location of bullying. This information will serve as a baseline for measuring future progress.

Form a Bullying Prevention Group

Include an administrator, parents, a school counselor, a non-teaching staff memebrr and educators from each grade level. Invite students to share their input as well, then meet regularly to plan bullying prevention activities, policies and rules.

Train Your Staff

Every staff member should be trained in preventing bullying and intervening when they see it happen. During training, talk about the nature of bullying, how to respond to it and how to prevent it from happening by working together. All adults in the school environment should undergo this training, including parent volunteers, counselors and recess aides.

Federal cutbacks and related government information has been all over the media lately. You are probably wondering how this may affect your family. Unless you or a family member is working for the government, you won’t experience a difference in your current lifestyle. Federal cutbacks affect government workers and companies that have federal contracts. These companies may have to layoff some workers in order to accommodate new budget cuts. The best thing to do is to save as much money as you can in case the economy takes a turn for the worse.

Saving money for emergencies such as job loss, higher grocery and gas prices makes sense in this difficult economy. The best way to curb your spending is to create a budget. You need to know how much money is going out versus how much is coming into your household budget. Cut back on activities such as eating out, going to the movies and nonessential purchases. If you keep a journal on your current spending trends, you will be surprised to discover how much money you can save. Being aware of your budget is half the battle. Reward yourself with a small indulgence for every week you stay on your budget.

One of the newest trends in fragrance marketing is to have a celebrity lend his or her name to a scent produced by a large perfume company. Some entertainers are instrumental in the entire process of creating the scent, while others simply have input on the finished product. This marriage works well for both the perfume company and the entertainer.

When Jessica Simpson attached her name to a previously existing line, Fancy Love was born. This scent sold a record number of units at large department stores, and it was shopped to internet retailers and budget perfume stores as well. Simpson’s endorsement of a product saved it from an almost certain death.

Other perfume retailers don’t necessarily need the help of a big name to sell their product. Chanel has never had a problem selling No. 5, but having Brad Pitt in the latest round of commercials did exactly what was planned: It made people talk about Chanel No. 5.

Some other notable celebrity fragrance endorsers are Beyonce with her fragrance Pulse NYC and Adam Levine with his cleverly named Adam Levine cologne and perfume. Pairing the perfect scent with an incredibly popular celebrity is a match made in marketing heaven.

Tom Hanks has proven his phenomenal acting ability in films such as “Saving Private Ryan”, “The Green Mile”, and “Forrest Gump”. His roles in films have been somewhat stereotypical as he portrays the nice guy in most of them. His success has made him a hit with fans around the world. That is one of the reasons that people would question his choice to take his acting to live theatre.

Hank’s is about to embark on a live theatre production titled “Lucky Guy” which requires him to convince audiences that he is not always the nice guy. It will be a challenge for Hanks to show the audience a different side, but his talent is likely to remove all doubt as to whether he can be convincing outside of type casting.

Hanks admits that he feels he has something to prove to himself, not just the audience. It is easy for actors to become familiar in a certain type of character. He wants to prove to himself and the world that he can do it. Although some people think that Hanks movie career might have dried up and that is why he has accepted the role, Hanks has a different story to tell. He currently has three movie projects awaiting him. Fans look forward to all of his projects.
